Job Title: Psychotherapist Therapeutic Lead (35 hours, Permanent*)

Location: Dublin – Flexibility to move between centres.

Reports to: Head of Service Operations

Supervises: All Therapeutic Team Members (affiliate Therapists)

Our client’s mission is to provide psychological, emotional, educational and practical support to people with cancer and those who care for them, through a warm, welcoming, and client-centred approach. Their aim is to ensure that everyone in Ireland is aware of their services, so that anyone who may need their support can access them.
They provide care and support to people recently diagnosed, who are in treatment, finished treatment, or caring for a loved one with cancer, providing survivorship programmes, complementary therapies, counselling and drop-in services. Founded in 1994, services are confidential, professional, and caring, and are provided free of charge across three centres located close to the major oncology hospitals in Dublin and via their online/remote service.
Their core values include Empathy, Confidentiality, Support and Empowerment as the cancer journey can be painful and difficult, with an aim to empower cancer survivors to take an active role in looking after their own physical, mental and emotional well-being, fostering confidence and hope amid challenges.

Position Summary:

The Therapeutic Lead (TL) is ideal for experienced Psychotherapists or allied health professionals with counselling and helping professional supervision experience. The TL oversees therapeutic practice and governance across all services, leading the trans-disciplinary contracted team, some of whom deliver services in-house and some remotely online. Collaborating closely with the Head of Service Operations, they ensure the safe and effective delivery of counselling and survivorship supports. The TL supervises therapeutic team activities, providing counselling sessions, clinical supervision, and overseeing overall therapeutic operations. Client is in the early stages of an exciting transformation process and this role will play a part in the outcome of this journey.

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Together with the Head of Service Operations, organise resources for the therapeutic team (TT) to meet client demands.
– Coordinate and supervise TT activities and collaborate with the Head of Services on work schedules.
– Supervise client needs assessment and triage and address clinical/therapeutic queries.
– Identify and manage risks in the therapeutic service.
– Deliver counselling sessions and clinical supervision.

Therapeutic Team Leadership:

– Coordinate effectively with those responsible for scheduling and attendance processes through the CRM system.
– Supervise counsellors and oversee supervision for other therapists
– Ensure TT adherence to all professional standards, organisational policies and procedures.
– Troubleshoot team issues in partnership with relevant departments and address concerns or complaints related to the TT.
– Oversee training and records compliance for client-facing individuals.
– Represent the organisation as the therapeutic lead with external stakeholders, within the oncology community and beyond.

Therapeutic Team Resourcing:

– Participate in the annual Planning and Budget process.
– Identify and onboard new TT members based on service demands and budgets.
– Conduct orientation and training on therapeutic policies and procedures.

General Management and Administration:

– Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
– Optimise the CRM system for therapeutic data.
– Monitor KPIs for therapeutic service delivery.
– Develop and implement therapeutic policies and procedures.
– Attend operational, strategic, or board committee meetings.
– Attend relevant training sessions and meetings.

Person Specification:

– Accreditation as a psychotherapist by IACP, NAPCP, APCP, or social worker accreditation by CORU/FTAI, and Psychologists by PSI.
– Clinical Supervision or Helping Professions Supervision Qualification.
– Experience leading a team, preferably in the healthcare or related industry.
– Team player who collaborates with peers to drive the vision for the organisation.
– Ability to implement change.
– Knowledge of Health and Safety compliance and risk management.
– Understanding of compliance needs and standards in the voluntary sector.
